Favorit Art works.

I watched the movie "Herb & Dorothy", I was really impressed it.
When you touch art works , the most important thing is the work has what appeals you.
Everyone has own sense of value , so you can enjoy your favorite arts anytime.
Feel everything of works, open your mind and train aesthetic eyes.

Japanese characteristic.

Sometime, I am asked by someone that what is standard when you evaluate arts. In my opinion, the most important thing in meeting arts is whether the work has something what appeals you or not . Most Japanese are interested in what is famous and got award of something. They don't judge art works by their own sense of value. They really like doing same things with other people.It's trivial thing for me.

Emotion.

I want to make my mind what I can feel everything. I want to feel something sensibility.
My failed works were made when I feel sad, disappointed, excited and anger or having extreme emotion.
Having normal sense is best when I make my works I think.
If I wanted to express sad feeling by sculpture, I will not make ones when I have sad emotion.
It is necessary to see my works to take a distance.

Does an actor perform anger when he or she feels resentments?
Although, they looks like to get angry, they would manage d their emotion.

Another wallet.

This is another wallet what I made, but it was failure. The edge of the wallet looks like rotted plywood. I put glue too much. You cannot see this picture. I can notice to see the side of it.

A silk yarn.

These yarn are silk. I got impulse buying, because these were so beautiful. I'm not going to make something though. Japanese traditional cloths of Kimono are made of silk. An artisan has to raise silkworm, dying yarn and weaving. At present time, it seems to decrease the number of the artisan who does all the process. I read a newspaper the other day, young mail of foreign country has started to do this job. Japanese young people don't like such work what takes long time. I wonder silk cloths will be make by only big company in the future.

Leather craft.

This is my wallet which I made.
It made from a sheep leather what is softer than a cow one.

A drawing clay beads.

I drew on the clay beads. These are spinach, potato, etc... .I'm going to knit key ring.

A Ferrete.

This is a Ferrete of my work. A Ferrete is kind of a weasel. They have smooth beautiful shape. I like that. There are some people who have a Ferrete as a pet.

A Vegetable dying.

I do the dying in my class at high school every year. The colors of vegetable dying are not bright, but these are plain, calm and quiet beautiful. You can get materials of dying whenever you do it. For example, there are peel of onion, tea, coffee, wood and grass. I don't have to use chemicals. At first, you boil these natural materials. You soak cloths which you want to dye in to the liquid. So you soak the cloths in to next liquid. This liquid is catalysis of colors. The catalysis which is boiled rusty nails by sour is natural material too. The reason why I use catalysis is putting colors in to cloths permanent. I like these colors. Doing vegetable dying is only in Japan I think. Western dying is more bright and brilliant than them .

A class of pottery.

I have a class of pottery. The students make many things. They often told me that it was good for them to concentrate at here. I understand it, but I wonder they usually have not time to concentrate to do something . For example, reading book, studying something, sewing... . They may have been busy everyday house work and their job. When I do something what I want to do, I skip house work. So my house get dirty and messy.

Learning language.

I noticed when I learn English. My way of thinking about words is rough, even I speak Japanese. I'm often told about my wrong words of Japanese by my friends. They are sensitive words. So I take a long time to learn English. I should think more strictly about grammar of language. But I wonder I could do such a thing.. .

A shape.

Sometimes, I'm asked by someone why I make these animals? I had thought about it. There are the shape what I like. These animals have the shape. It is difficult to explain what shape in works. It is soft and good shape for me. Recently, I make human. I make a lot of changes to the shape of human body. I want to get the shape what I like. Thinking three-D is difficult and very interesting for me.

Clay beads.

I talked about glass beads before. It is clay beads. You can make beads of clay. It's easy for you to make these.

Japanese pottery.

Japanese pottery is simple and plain I think. It is not colorful than pottery of Europe or other countries, but I like that. I enjoy material of clay. There are various clays in Japan. These are meaningful themselves. At the end of pottery was made by fire. It means that so to speak Japanese pottery is made by nature.

A tool of curving stone.

I use a chisel when I curve a stone. A chisel made of iron. The tip of chisel is very strong metal. What is called " tungalloy", it is a compound metal of tungsten and cobalt. A cost of the chisels are about 2,500 yen. When I was Art University student , at first, I made tip of a chisel. It means that a chisel has not tip of tungalloy. I put tip into fire. And then I keep going to bake the tip. So tip get red color. Next I put tip into water in rapid. It makes getting hard of the tip that put rapid it to get cool. The tip is not harder than tungalloy, but every old people use these tips.

Misanga

Today's topic is making "misanga". What language is Misanga, I don't know. I think it may be Spanish. Misanga is kind of bracelet. I heard that at first, an athlete had worn it.When they make a wish, it is said that if the bracelet frayed and broken, their wish would come true. High school students like such things. They make Misanga of hemp or cotton. Particularly girl students must give their boyfriends. What do they make wish? I don"t know.

Typical Japanese.

I'm going to talk about a wrong Japanese way of thinking. All Japanese like good person. It means that they like people whose way of thinking is same with them. They don't admit various ways of thinking. The atmosphere stifles me. When I talk with someone, I would talk about my opinion directly. My opinion would be different with other people sometime. They would say "You are an artist, it's OK" However, they should admit various opinions of others who are not artists. Japanese think acting in harmony is important. I think, high school students are tied with the atmosphere. They cannot act different attitude with their friends. It seems that they feel stifled. (This picture is waterfall in Japan,"洒水の滝”）

Making sculpture.

I almost make sculpture only by my hand. I don't like using machine. At first , I use hammer drill machine when I cut a stone two. After that I curve a stone by my hand with hammer and chisel. I polish surface of sculpture by a whetstone at finishing works. Writing these arrangement is simple, but it takes a long time. I search shape what is good and beautiful during curving. And it is necessary to have good physical strength to keep going making works. I don't have it . I wish I had strong physical strength. So I could made much more works.

Wheel pottery.

When you want to make a lot of cups or dishes , you would be better to use wheel pottery. I feel like calming when I don't use such a machine. I like that, but making them by wheel pottery is as fun as making them by hand.

Shape

I like beautiful concrete shape of animal and human. But I don't like making detail. So I make abstract shape as keep concrete shape.It is interesting and difficult.

Polished " Komatsu" stone.

This is a sea lion. This is not granite. It's a stone which is called "Komatsu" stone .This is softer than granite. It feels smooth when you touch the surface.

Glass Beads.

These are "Tombo Dama". These are Japanese glass beads. I wind melting glass with a stick of iron. I made these. High school students have enjoyed them.

Sake.

These are small cups for sake. You use them to drink Japanese sake.

A pottery.

My occupation is making sculpture, but most people don't buy it and I'm not good at management and selling my works so I have to work another job to make a living. I have a class of pottery. Making pottery is fun. We have enjoyed it for ten years. Have you ever made pottery? I make these in my own way.

Sewing.

I went to a sewing shop when they held a sale. I'm going to make a bag. I have made some bags of leather. So I will try making a bag of cloth. Making something is interesting. People of today don't like to make something by hand because it would take a long time. It is not easy.

Necessities.

When I make sculpture in the warm season it is necessary to use mosquito-repellent-incense regularly . I have many sculptures that are half finished. These are some. I make what I choose when I want to make something.

Teaching.

One of my other jobs is as a part time teacher in high school. Students have to choose a subject of arts. There are four subjects, music, calligraphy,pure art and craft art. I teach craft art, for example, leather craft,curving wood, textiles, dyeing cloth, glass work,cloisonne,and basket work. These are all my favorite things. However, young people are not good at handmade. They have grown up in IT era. So they don't like that not easy to make something. They always hold cell phone. They can do everything only pushing a button. I always cheer up them to make it. For now, they enjoyed it.

My garden.

There are five big trees in my garden.Sometimes, I have to cut these branch of trees.This picture is branches of colored leaves.The person who lives next door claimed cutting the trees on last autumn. I took a picture becouse it was so beautiful colored leaves. I have enjoyed living with these trees. However, many caterpillar adhere on the one of trees in every end of summer. I hate it. I don't like the season.

Balance.

To tell the truth,I've never been to go abroad.So you might say "Why are you studiing English now?" Yes, everybody think so. I'm always thinking about how to make my works. Learning English can change my mind completly different. I think it uses different place of my brain. It is good for me to be balance. One of my studiing is reading newspaper.I read " shuukannST" .This is easy to read for me and I could be able to see a lot of news in the world. http:// www.japantimes.co.jp/shukan-st/ If you learn Japanease,

Arts in ordinary people.

There are two of my works in front of an apartment. These are whales. Most Japanease don't buy sculpture,because their house too small to set it. They sometime buy oil painting or water color painting.It doesn't need space to set it. I wonder how about other country people.I'm sure they have bigger house than Japanease's houses. Do they buy sculpture or painting?I don't know. I would like to know that in United state of America,Europe and Asia.

Language and Art.

I have made sculpture for long time.I wasn't good at communicate with someone. For now,I want to talk with someone who likes sculpture and art.I make stone sculpture. I like granite. I have made animals.For example,a seal,a cat,a whale and a weasel.I would like to set these works in public place.

A start.

I decided to write a blog what is sculptor's notes. I wish I would comunicated with someone who likes sculpture , Arts and handmade. I believe that writing blog will be good for me. I started studying English since last May.I have tried that several method before,but I didn't keep studying at all.One day on last May ,I noticed a place where English cafe near the station where I use. I tried joying them. I go to there once a week . I didn't expect to keep going it.Because I couldn't speak English at all.
